Montgomery, Ala.- The Blue Mountain Christian University men's tennis team continued play at the SSAC Roundup in Montgomery, Alabama on Friday, falling 6-1 to the University of Mobile Rams.
Despite the final score, the Toppers showed fight throughout the lineup and picked up a doubles victory during conference play.
In doubles competition, Blue Mountain found success on court three as
Pablo Cruz and Kevin Kotzé earned a strong 6-2 victory.
Adriaan Engelbrecht and
Luis Lainer played a competitive match on the top court but fell just short 6-4.
Caleb Rogers and
Craig Blevins also battled closely on court two, dropping their match by the same 6-4 margin.
In singles play, Engelbrecht earned Blue Mountain's lone team point after his opponent was forced to retire.
Cruz competed well before falling 6-3, 6-4. Blevins dropped his match 6-1, 6-2, while
Maj Langerholz fell by identical 6-1, 6-2 scores.
Kotzé battled in one of the closest matches of the day, forcing a tiebreaker before falling. Lainer rounded out singles competition for the Toppers, fighting hard before falling 6-3, 6-4.
Blue Mountain will continue SSAC Roundup play as they look to continue gaining experience against strong conference competition.
