Toppers compete in SSAC Roundup against Loyola

Montgomery, Ala.- The Blue Mountain Christian University men's tennis team continued SSAC Roundup play Thursday in Montgomery, Alabama, falling 5-2 to Loyola University (La.).
The Toppers showed resilience in singles play, picking up two victories against a tough conference opponent.
In doubles competition, Adriaan Englebrecht and Luis Lainer fell 1-6 at the No. 1 position. 
Caleb Rogers and Craig Blevins competed at No. 2 doubles but were defeated 3-6. 
Pablo Cruz and Kevin Kotzé battled closely at No. 3 doubles, falling in a tight 6-7 decision as Loyola secured the doubles point.
In singles play, Englebrecht fell at No. 1 singles 2-6, 2-6. Cruz competed hard at No. 2 singles, dropping the first set 4-6 before battling in the second set that was decided in a tiebreaker, falling 6-7 (5-7). 
Maj Langerholz lost his match at No. 3 singles 1-6, 1-6.
The Toppers picked up two points in singles play as Kotzé earned a strong straight-set victory at No. 4 singles, winning 6-1, 6-2. 
Lainer also secured a point for BMCU at No. 5 singles with a 6-0, 6-2 win.
The Toppers will continue SSAC Roundup play as conference matches continue in Montgomery.
