Little Rock, Ark- The BMCU Women's Tennis team faced a demanding day of competition, opening play against Texas A&M–Texarkana before responding with a dominant performance against John Brown University to close the afternoon.
In the first match of the day, the Toppers were tested by TAMU Texarkana and ultimately fell 0–7 despite several closely contested points throughout the lineup.
Doubles play opened the match with
Camila Mordiz and
Eugenia Ramos competing at the No. 1 position, where they dropped a 6–2 decision. At No. 2 doubles, the pairing of
Lina Cetina and
Lucia Rodriguez Garcia battled through a tight set but came up short, 6–3.
The closest doubles match came from
Kiersten Terris and
Valeria Manquillo at No. 3, who pushed their opponents into a tiebreaker before narrowly falling 7–4.
Singles play featured multiple competitive sets as the Toppers continued to fight. Mordiz fell 6–4, 6–0 in her match, while Cetina dropped a 6–4, 6–2 decision. Ramos battled through a close first set before falling 7–5, 6–1.
Malyaporn was defeated 6–2, 6–3, and Garcia closed the singles slate with a 6–3, 6–0 result. Despite the final scoreline, the match provided valuable experience against a strong opponent and set the tone for a focused response later in the day.
That response came emphatically in the second match as BMCU swept John Brown University 7–0, showcasing depth, composure, and confidence across the lineup.
Doubles play set the momentum early, with Mordiz and Ramos earning a 6–2 victory at No. 1. Cetina and Garcia followed with a solid 6–4 win at No. 2, while Malyaporn and Terris secured a 6–3 decision at No. 3 to complete the sweep.
The Toppers carried that energy into singles, turning in a complete performance from top to bottom. Mordiz claimed a 6–2, 6–1 win, while Cetina followed with a 6–3, 6–2 victory.
Ramos delivered a commanding performance with a 6–0, 6–2 result, and Malyaporn added a 6–3, 6–4 win.
Garcia continued the momentum with a 6–1, 6–2 decision, and Terris capped the match with a strong showing, winning 6–2, 7–6 in a tiebreaker to seal the sweep.
The split on the day reflected both the challenges and growth of the Toppers, as BMCU responded to adversity with a confident and complete team performance in their second match on the courts.
