Toppers post strong showing against elite NAIA field at Coastal Georgia Winter Invite

St. Simons Island, Ga.- Blue Mountain Christian men's golf delivered an impressive performance this week, competing against one of the strongest fields in the NAIA at the Coastal Georgia Winter Invite, placing 4th of 17 teams.
The tournament, played on a par-72 layout stretching 7,014 yards, featured multiple nationally ranked programs including No. 2 Reinhardt, No. 8 Ave Maria, No. 12 Coastal Georgia, No. 14 OUAZ, and No. 15 Webber International, along with several other institutions receiving votes.
The Toppers were paced by Simon Meiby, who tied for 5th place individually after posting rounds of 73-75-70 for a three-round total of 218. Meiby closed the tournament with an impressive final-round 70, showcasing composure and consistency down the stretch against elite competition.
Alex Nordstrom also earned a top-10 finish, tying for 7th place with rounds of 72-72-76 to finish at 220.
Nordstrom's steady play over the opening two rounds positioned him firmly among the tournament leaders throughout the event.
Acen Lambert added another strong finish for Blue Mountain, tying for 13th place with rounds of 75-69-78 for a 222 total.
Lambert's second-round 69 marked one of the lowest rounds of the tournament for the Toppers and highlighted the team's ability to produce under pressure.
Damil Ataullah finished tied for 27th after carding rounds of 71-75-80 for a 226 total, while Cobey Riddle rounded out the Blue Mountain lineup, tying for 57th with rounds of 79-75-80 to finish at 234.
Head Coach Kevin Barefield praised his team's competitiveness against one of the nation's top fields. "I'm really proud of how our guys competed from start to finish," Barefield said. "This was a strong, nationally ranked field on a championship-caliber course, and we proved we can play with anyone. Simon closing with a 70 was big-time, and having multiple guys in the top 15 shows the depth we're building. This is the standard we want to compete at."
Competing against nationally ranked programs on a championship-length course, the Toppers demonstrated depth, composure, and the ability to contend with some of the top teams in the country.
The strong individual performances reinforce Blue Mountain Christian's presence among competitive NAIA programs as the season continues.
