Montgomery, Ala.- Blue Mountain Christian University men's golfer Cobey Riddle has been named the SSAC Men's Golfer of the Week following his individual championship performance at the Bojangles Tennessee Wesleyan Invite.
Riddle helped lead No. 3 Blue Mountain Christian to a team championship while capturing the individual title with rounds of 68, 69, and 75. His three-round total of 211 placed him at 4-under-par for the tournament, securing the top spot on the individual leaderboard.
The standout performance saw Riddle open the tournament with consecutive rounds of 68, putting himself in a strong position entering the final round. He followed with a 75 to secure the individual championship and help the Toppers claim another tournament victory.
Riddle's performance adds to an impressive fall campaign for Blue Mountain Christian, which has continued to establish itself among the nation's top programs.
With the Toppers currently ranked No. 3 in the nation, his individual victory serves as another example of the depth and talent within the BMCU lineup.
Head Coach Kevin Barefield praised Riddle for his consistency and the important role he continues to play in the team's success.
"Cobey has been a tremendous competitor for us, and I'm really proud of the way he performed this week," Barefield said. "Opening a tournament with rounds of 68 and 69, put himself in a great position to compete for the individual title. He's worked extremely hard on his game, and it's rewarding to see that effort pay off. What makes this accomplishment even more special is that his performance helped our team bring home another championship. Cobey is a big part of what we're building here, and I'm excited to see him continue to grow as a player."
Riddle's conference recognition adds another accomplishment to the Toppers' successful fall season as No. 3 Blue Mountain Christian looks to carry its momentum into the spring season.
