No. 3 BMCU men’s golf captures Bojangles Tennessee Wesleyan Invite championship

Vonore, Tenn.- The No. 3-ranked Blue Mountain Christian University men's golf team continued its impressive fall campaign, capturing the Bojangles Tennessee Wesleyan Invite championship with a commanding 22-stroke victory over the 12-team field.
The Toppers finished the three-round tournament at 10-over-par, recording team rounds of five-over, four-under and nine-over to secure the championship.
BMCU separated itself from the competition with an outstanding second-round performance, posting the only under-par team round of the tournament.
Missouri Valley finished runner-up at 32-over-par, followed by No. 23 Northwestern Ohio at 33-over-par, Cumberland at 34-over-par and Johnson University at 35-over-par.
The tournament featured several nationally recognized programs, including No. 6 Coastal Georgia, which tied for sixth at 44-over-par, and No. 24 Grand View, which finished ninth at 50-over-par.
Missouri Valley also entered the event receiving votes in the latest NAIA Men's Golf Coaches' Poll.
Cobey Riddle led the charge for Blue Mountain Christian, capturing the individual tournament championship with rounds of 68, 69 and 75 for a three-round total of 212, finishing four-under-par.
Riddle opened the tournament with a four-under-par 68 before following with a three-under-par 69 in the second round.
His strong play helped establish the Toppers' advantage heading into the final round.
Alex Nordstrom added another impressive performance, finishing third individually at one-under-par with rounds of 71, 71 and 73 for a three-round total of 215.
Nordstrom recorded back-to-back under-par rounds to open the tournament before closing with a one-over-par 73.
"I'm extremely proud of the way our guys competed this week," head coach Kevin Barefield said. "Winning a tournament by 22 strokes against a field that includes several nationally recognized programs says a lot about the talent and depth of this team. Cobey and Alex both played outstanding golf, and we had contributions throughout our lineup that helped us get the job done.
"Being ranked No. 3 in the country is a tremendous honor, but these guys understand that rankings don't win tournaments. You have to go out and prove yourself every time you compete. I thought our team did a great job of staying focused and playing for each other this week. We're excited about the direction of this program, but we know there's still plenty of work ahead of us."
Axel Houdaille provided a steady presence for the Toppers, recording rounds of 75, 75 and 76 for a three-round total of 226, finishing 10-over-par.
Acen Lambert delivered one of the team's strongest second-round performances, carding a two-under-par 70 after opening with a 79.
Lambert closed with an 80 to finish at 229, 13-over-par.
Adrian Perez showed improvement throughout the tournament, recording rounds of 81, 77 and 73 for a three-round total of 231, finishing 15-over-par.
His final-round 73 marked an eight-stroke improvement from his opening round.
Agustin Frutos added rounds of 79, 74 and 79 for a three-round total of 232, finishing 16-over-par.
Competing individually, Damil Ataullah finished tied for sixth with rounds of 69, 78 and 74 for a three-round total of 221, finishing five-over-par.

The championship adds another significant accomplishment to Blue Mountain Christian's fall campaign as the Toppers continue to build momentum following their historic rise to No. 3 in the NAIA national rankings, the highest ranking ever achieved by a BMCU athletic program.
