MGOLF #3 in NAIA Golf Rankings 2026

BMCU men’s golf makes history with No. 3 national ranking

Kansas City, MO- Blue Mountain Christian men's golf has reached a historic milestone, climbing 13 spots to No. 3 in the nation in the latest NAIA Men's Golf Ratings released Friday. The ranking marks the highest national ranking ever achieved by any athletic program in Blue Mountain Christian University history.
After entering the 2026-27 season ranked No. 16 in the August 21 preseason ratings, the Toppers have quickly established themselves among the nation's elite.
Strong team performances against some of the NAIA's toughest competition, combined with several nationally ranked individual golfers, have fueled a remarkable start to the season.
The Toppers' historic rise has been backed by standout performances throughout their lineup, with four golfers currently ranked among the top 125 individuals in the NAIA according to Clippd, including three inside the top 50.
Leading the charge for BMCU has been junior Alex Nordstrom, who currently ranks No. 4 nationally in the Clippd NAIA men's golf individual rankings.
Nordstrom opened his season in impressive fashion, capturing the individual title at the 2026 Coastal Georgia Men's Fall Invitational with a 12-under-par performance.
His efforts helped propel the Toppers to a runner-up finish in a highly competitive field.
Nordstrom continued his strong play at The Invite at Innisbrook, earning a 10th-place individual finish against another field featuring some of the NAIA's top programs.
His consistency through the opening tournaments has established him as one of the nation's premier individual golfers.
Joining Nordstrom among the nation's highest-ranked players is junior Cobey Riddle, who currently sits at No. 14 in the Clippd individual rankings.
Riddle delivered an impressive performance at the Coastal Georgia Men's Fall Invitational, finishing just three strokes behind Nordstrom at nine-under-par to claim third place individually. The combination of Nordstrom and Riddle has provided BMCU with one of the strongest individual pairings in the NAIA to begin the season.
Alex Houdaille has also played an important role in the Toppers' early success, currently ranking No. 43 nationally.
Houdaille opened the season with a seventh-place finish at the Coastal Georgia Men's Fall Invitational, carding a four-under-par total against a strong field of competitors.
He followed that performance with another solid showing at The Invite at Innisbrook, finishing tied for 22nd alongside seven other golfers.
His ability to produce competitive results in both tournaments has added valuable depth to the Blue Mountain Christian lineup.
Freshman newcomer Agustin Frutos has made an immediate impact in his first season with the program, earning a No. 121 individual ranking in Clippd. Frutos began his collegiate career with a top 30 finish at the Coastal Georgia Men's Fall Invitational before improving upon that result with an impressive top 20 finish at The Invite at Innisbrook.
His early performances have further strengthened a BMCU roster already featuring several nationally ranked individuals.
A significant part of Blue Mountain Christian's early success has come from the program's commitment to competing against the best teams in the country.
Rather than easing into the fall schedule, the Toppers have tested themselves against nationally competitive fields at both the Coastal Georgia Men's Fall Invitational and The Invite at Innisbrook.
Those opportunities have allowed BMCU to demonstrate its ability to compete with established national contenders while building valuable experience against the level of competition it hopes to face in postseason play.
With four golfers currently ranked among the top 125 individuals in the NAIA, including three inside the top 50, the Toppers have established a strong foundation through the opening portion of their 2026-27 campaign.
Head Coach Kevin Barefield reflected on the historic ranking and the individual performances that have helped elevate the program.
"It's a great honor for our guys and our program to be ranked No. 3 in the nation in the opening rankings. These guys have worked hard, and it's encouraging to see that effort recognized nationally. We have a talented group that pushes each other every day, and each player has a part in the success of this team.
To have Alex ranked No. 4 and Cobey No. 14 individually makes this even more special. Both are outstanding competitors who set a strong example through their work ethic and commitment to the team. I'm proud of them and our entire group for the way they represent Blue Mountain Christian University.
This is a great start, and there's still a lot of golf ahead of us. Our focus is to keep improving, stay consistent, and give ourselves an opportunity to compete with the best each time we tee it up."
As Blue Mountain Christian continues its fall schedule, the program will look to build upon its early momentum and further establish itself among the nation's elite.
