Hattiesburg, Miss.- BMCU Men's Golf had a phenomenal showing in the Carey Collegiate this week, finishing second place in a field of fifteen teams.
The Carey Collegiate was filled with some of the best teams in the NAIA, with seven teams either in the Top 25 or receiving votes.
The Toppers beat out two Top 25 teams in the Carey Collegiate. They outlasted Lindsey Wilson who is ranked second in the country, and William Carey who is ranked eighteenth.
The Nordstrom brothers had an exceptional tournament, which helped lead the Toppers to the second-place finish.
Pontus Nordstrom was consistent in his play, shooting 71-71-70-212. His performance landed a second-place finish individually and a spot on the all-tournament team.
Alex Nordstrom played fantastic in the first round to give him an overall score of 69-74-72-215.
He placed fifth individually and received a place on the all-tournament team.
Acen Lambert was the third highest score for the Toppers, shooting 77-75-75-227. Lambert placed 30^th in the tournament.
Cobey Riddle was not far behind him with a score of 73-77-78-228. The freshman placed 34^th.
Tucker Parker shot 78-80-79-237 and Tom Lehman shot 75-84-79-238 to round out the team for the Carey Collegiate.
"I am so proud of our guys this week." Said Head Coach Kevin Barefield. "We knew there were going to be some great teams in this tournament, but we believed our guys could compete with them and they did. We look forward to using this as motivation to finish the year strong."
The Toppers will be back in action March 24^th as they host the BMCU Spring Classic.
