Athens, Tenn.- The BMCU Men's Golf team traveled to Athens, Tennessee this weekend to compete in the Tennessee Wesleyan Bojangles Invitational. Due to weather conditions on Sunday, the tournament was shortened to Saturday's results, with the Toppers finishing in eighth place overall.
Leading the way for BMCU was Alex Nordstrom, who earned a top-ten individual finish. Nordstrom posted rounds of 76-68-144 to place eighth in the field, highlighted by a stellar second-round 68 in which he shot four under par.
Acen Lambert followed close behind with consistent rounds of 74-75-149, placing him in a tie for 15th. Cobey Riddle and Clay Adams both tied for 32nd, each carding two-day totals of 153. Riddle shot 76-77, while Adams recorded rounds of 74-79.
Adrian Perez finished two strokes behind Riddle and Adams with rounds of 83-72-155, including a strong even-par performance in round two. Rounding out the Toppers' lineup were Damil Ataullah (80-79-159, 49th) and Simon Meiby (87-76-163, 54th).
"In this tournament, we knew it was going to be a competitive field for us," said Head Coach Kevin Barefield. Barefield continues, "Although we were a little flat in our performance on day one, it was great to see Alex perform the way he did, especially in round two. We know that this was not near our best foot forward, and we want to maximize our capability going into the spring season."
