Mousavi claims runner-up at SSAC Championship, BMCU places fourth

GREENVILLE, Ala. – (Leaderboard) (RV) Blue Mountain Christian Women's Golf concluded the three-day SSAC Championship Tournament here Wednesday, as recent First-Team All-SSAC star Minoo Mousavi claimed runner-up and spot on the SSAC All-Tournament Team.
Mousavi, one of the top 20 NAIA golfers in the nation, had a steady opening round Monday where she fired off four birdies, followed that up Tuesday with six birds, and climbed the leaderboard Wednesday by shooting a 71.
As a team, BMCU would finish fourth out of the eight-team field, shooting 313-316-310-939.
Mousavi made a run at eventual champion Nichakorn Prapsripoom, but the William Carey start held her off by four strokes.
William Carey would take the team crown at the event, shooting 297-292-296-885.
"I'm very proud of Minoo and our ladies in how they competed, not just at this event, but every tournament this year," BMCU head coach Kevin Barefield said.  "The conference is full of ranked teams and highly touted individuals, and I believe we've done a remarkable job of challenging them.  The NAIA has recognized us as one of the best programs in the nation now, and we are looking forward to the future".
Blue Mountain finished the 2023-24 regular season receiving votes (RV) inside the NAIA and could move into the Top 25 in the final poll.
With teams and individuals yet to be announced, Mousavi and BMCU still have a strong shot at making the NAIA National Championship slated for May 14-17 at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill.
