Catherine Truemper and the Blue Mountain Christian Women defended their home turf on Senior Day here Saturday, racing past six other scoring teams to claim the BMCU Topper Trails 5K individual and team titles.
Truemper was the fastest woman on the course, earning the individual title in a time of 19:30 at a pace of 6:17. It was her third-straight Top 10 finish of the season thus far.
As a team, Blue Mountain scored 21 to outpace second-place Wallace State and third-place NCAA DII school Delta State.
Freshman
Harley Garner was also solid on the trail also for Blue Mountain, posting a sixth-place finish in a time of 20:31, while
Katie Meeks was seventh in a time of 20:37 to put three Lady Toppers in the Top 10.
"Our ladies really had a great race today," BMCU head coach Phillip Laney said after the event. "It was a pretty stacked field with some great athletes and our girls performed extremely well. I'm very happy to see the improvement we continue to make each event."
