Will Porter lit up his home course here Saturday at the Topper Trails 8K Classic, decimating the pack by winning the individual title in a time of 26:41 with a pace of 5:22.
As a team, the Toppers would finish second with 38 points behind Wallace State. Seven scoring teams competed in the event.
Landon Ahrens ran a solid race also for the Toppers, finishing sixth in a time of 27:30, while
Joel Parker clipped in 16
th in a time of 29:14.
"I'm really pleased with how our guys competed today in a tough field of teams," BMCU head coach Phillip Laney said. "They love to compete and challenge themselves, and they answered that call today. I can see constant improvement and it's very encouraging."
