Will Porter nabbed a Top 10 finish Friday at the Mississippi College Season Opener 5K, as Blue Mountain Christian Men opened the 2023 XC season.
Porter would race to 10
th place in a time of 15:52.2, hitting the podium, in a field of 131 NCAA and NAIA runners. Porter's pace translated to a swift 5:06 per mile.
Out of 15 teams present, the Toppers placed a solid 6
th with 154 points. Host Mississippi College took first with 15 points.
"Will ran extremely well today, as did the entire team," BMCU head coach Phillip Laney said after the event. "Our younger guys really stepped up and had a big impact in the final standings, so that is very encouraging. We're going to get stronger as a team, I can see that already."
