Seven Lady Toppers named to NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athlete Team

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released the 2023 Daktronics NAIA Women's Cross Country Scholar-Athletes Thursday, with Blue Mountain Christian Women's XC claiming seven spots on the prestigious list.
Angel Wright, Aubrey Britt, Catherine Truemper, Emma Laney, Katie Meeks, Kirsten Hitt and Morgan Ellis all earned a spot on the roll for the Lady Toppers.
"This is a great honor for our ladies," BMCU head coach Phillip Laney said.  "I certainly consider this one of the highest awards a collegiate student-athlete can earn.  I'm so happy for them and all they have accomplished academically."
According to the NAIA, the Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete programs recognize excellence in the classroom by NAIA-member student-athletes who are sophomores or above in academic standing with a 3.5 cumulative GPA.  Students must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year as a non-transfer or one full year as a transfer.  The awards are given annually to outstanding student-athletes in the various sports in which the program is active, and their respective teams are eligible for NAIA postseason competition.
